About the portal
In line with the implementation of the OIC Strategic Health Programme of Action (OIC SHPA) 2014-2023, SESRIC prepared the OIC Health Communication and Publicizing Strategy that was endorsed by the 5th Session of the Islamic Conference of Health Ministers, held on 17-19 November 2015 in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye. The strategy aims to strengthen the commitment and involvement of the Member States and relevant OIC institutions in the implementation of the OIC-SHPA by effectively publicizing and promoting their national and intra-OIC health efforts.
As an initiative by SESRIC towards the implementation of the said strategy, SESRIC developed the OIC Health Portal, which was launched during the 6th Session of the Islamic Conference of Health Ministers, held on 5-7 December 2017, in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The OIC Health Portal acts as the main information sharing platform for the health activities and programmes of OIC Member States and OIC institutions to promote and publicize the implementation of the OIC SHPA. Moreover, the portal provides comprehensive statistical data along with research reports and publications on the health sector in OIC Member States. Developments regarding the programmes and projects that are implemented by the ministries of health of the member countries and the relevant OIC institutions in the domain of health are regularly reflected in the portal.
