Pakistan Releases Second Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) Country Fact Sheets

On June 3, 2026, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSR&C), in partnership with the National Institute of Population Studies Training and Research (NIPS&TR) and the World Health Organization (WHO), officially published the fact sheets for the 2024 Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS). Marking the second comprehensive assessment since the baseline 2014 survey, this technical release tracks nationwide shifts in tobacco use among individuals aged 15 and older. 

Mauritania Releases First Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) Country Report

The National Agency for Statistics and Demographic and Economic Analysis (ANSADE) and the Ministry of Health of Mauritania have released the first Country Report for the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS), delivering essential data on tobacco use among adults aged 15 and older. 

Pakistan Concludes Data Analysis Workshop for Second Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS)

The National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS), in coordination with the Tobacco Control Cell (TCC) of Pakistan and the World Health Organization (WHO), has completed the technical Data Analysis Workshop for the second round of the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS 2024–25). 

Uganda Publishes Second Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) Country Report

Senegal Releases 2023 Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) Report

The National Agency of Statistics and Demography (ANSD) and the Ministry of Health and Social Action (MSAS) of Senegal have released the full report for the 2023 Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS), providing updated and comprehensive data on tobacco use among adults aged 15 and olderThe final results confirm that 4.4% of adults are current tobacco users, with 4.1% being smokers.

Sudan Declares Official End to Cholera Outbreak Following Sustained Intervention

On 3 March 2026, Sudan declared the end of the cholera outbreak following no report of cases for 48 days – longer than the 2 full incubation periods of 10 days without reported cases that are required before declaring an end to an outbreak. The last case was reported on 14 January 2026. Cholera cases were first detected in Kassala State in late July 2024, prompting the Federal Ministry of Health to declare an outbreak in August 2024. 

Libya Achieves Landmark Victory in Eliminating Trachoma as a Public Health Problem

Nigeria Launches Second Phase of Measles-Rubella Elimination Campaign

Nigeria is conducting the second phase of its vaccination campaign to immunise 43 million children aged 9 months to 15 years against measles and rubella across 16 states. The current phase, stream one, is being implemented across eight southern states: Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa.
